The IFA USA Westchester-Connecticut Region Luncheon series will consist of nine meetings held at the elegant Hyatt Regency Greenwich, from 12 Noon to 2 PM on the second Thursday of each month from October 2018 through June 2019. Thus, the dates are: October 11, 2018, November 8, 2018, December 13, 2018, January 10, 2019, February 14, 2019, March 14, 2019, April 11, 2019, May 9, 2019, and June 13, 2019.

Biography - Layla Asali

Biography - Jarrett Jacinto

The next meeting of the International Fiscal Association, USA Branch, Westchester County, NY/Connecticut Region Luncheon Series will be Thursday, March 14, 2019.   The topic of the March 14th meeting will be "What is the Role of Treasury Regulations under the TCJA?  Assessing Treasury’s Authority and the Impact of Developments in Administrative Law.”  Our speakers will be Layla J. Asali and Jarrett Y. Jacinto, both members of Miller & Chevalier Chartered. 
 
Ms. Asali is the Vice Chair of Miller & Chavalier’s Tax Department.  She focuses on the taxation of cross-border transactions and business activities. She advises U.S.-based and foreign-based multinational clients on international tax issues, including mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property transactions, supply chain planning, and financings.  In addition to her consulting practice, Layla has experience representing clients before the Internal Revenue Service National Office in obtaining favorable private letter rulings and resolving federal income tax controversies at the audit level and at IRS Appeals. She has also represented clients before the U.S. Department of the Treasury on regulatory and policy matters.  Layla has a BA from Princeton University, summa cum laude, and a JD from Harvard Law School, cum laude.
 
Mr. Jacinto practices in the area of federal income tax with an emphasis on tax planning and controversy. Prior to joining Miller & Chevalier, Mr. Jacinto worked in the areas of tax controversy and transactional tax at Latham & Watkins LLP in Washington, DC. Jarrett has a BBA from the University of Hawaii with honors, an MBA from George Washington University, and a JD from Georgetown University, magna cum laude.

As usual, the meeting will be held at the elegant Hyatt Regency Greenwich from 12 Noon to 2 PM.  After this meeting, the remaining dates of the 2018-2019 Luncheon Series will be:  April 11, 2019, May 9, 2019, and June 13, 2019. The cost for attending individual meetings is $50.    
At each meeting we will have a technical presentation on a tax topic of current interest and review recent events. A three-course lunch will be served. Participants will be entitled to CPE and CLE credits.  We are not currently registered with the IRS Tax Return Preparer CE program as attorneys and CPAs in good standing are exempt.  
 
Each meeting also offers you an excellent opportunity to make contacts and stay abreast of all the latest international tax developments. We urge you to join now, come to every meeting to expand your network and technical expertise, and take advantage of our low fees.



Financial Hardship Policy
Scholarships are available in the event of financial hardship. An individual wishing to obtain a scholarship should apply in writing at least 2 weeks in advance of the program date, explaining the circumstances of such person's financial hardship. The amount of the scholarship generally depends on salary as follows:

Unemployed – Full Scholarship; Income up to $15,000 – 75% discount;
Income $15,000–$30,000 – 50% discount; Income above $30,000 – no discoun
