Cathy Tosto
Cathy Tosto is the Senior Vice President of Tax at LyondellBasell, one of the world’s premier plastics, chemicals, and refining companies. She is responsible for developing, implementing, managing, and defending the company’s worldwide tax strategies, global direct and indirect tax compliance, and financial tax provisions (US GAAP and IFRS).
As a senior financial leader, she has held progressive executive-level business and tax consulting roles with two of the largest international accounting and professional services firms. She brings significant business and transactional experience across diverse industries, leading teams to assist clients with multinational transactions. Prior to joining LyondellBasell, she led the Transaction Tax Advisory Services practice in Michigan and NW Ohio for Ernst & Young LLP.
Leveraging tax technical hands-on expertise, strong business acumen, strategic advisory, and project management skills, she has led diverse cross-border teams to effectively evaluate business and transaction risk and opportunity from a tax perspective, recommending solutions that drive tangible results for clients. She has assisted clients with minimizing cash taxes using optimal tax accounting methods; resolving tax controversies; income tax provision assistance and SOX 404 controls assessments and testing; income tax planning (international, state, and local); and bringing a perspective to those undergoing tax-efficient internal restructurings in connection with post-transaction integration as well as other business-driven changes.
